Changing a piece of paper into certain lovely shape is amazing, and it’s called as Origami. At first, origami was used for religious ceremonies in Japan. It’s because the price of paper at that time was expensive. However, because then everyone can purchase the paper, then origami can be made by all people.
Now, the design of origami has improved. Besides the technique, the improvement can be seen from the material that is used. Some modern origami combines paper and aluminum foil. Moreover, there are many shapes that you can make from origami, such as flowers, animals, clothes, accessories, Christmas, vegetables, and even furniture. However, if origami is still strange for you, you can learn on how to make origami from scratch. You may fail on the first attempt, but you need to be patience in order to get the best result.
Kinds of Folding in Origami
Origami consists of various folding techniques. Before learning how to make origami, it’s important to know all of them or at least two of the important folding techniques. Kinds of folding in origami are: Valley Fold, Mountain Fold, Outside Reverse Fold, Inside Reverse Fold, Z-Fold (three equal parts), Gate Fold (four equal parts), Stair Fold (five equal parts), Balloon Fold, Square Fold, Nail Fold, Chair Fold, Kite Fold, Rabbit Ear Fold, and many more.
Chopstick Case
First, place a paper until one of its sharp corners is pointing at you. Fold it in a half vertically until the two sharp corners meet each other. It will be used as an almost invisible border. After that, open the fold, then fold it again but this time make sure the folding is not in the same line as an almost invisible border that you made before. This is your second crease. The folding should be similar to the first folding, but not in the same line. When you fold it, you’ll get a white line in the outer part of your paper.
Second, fold the peak of the triangle to the bottom of the triangle. Then, open it again. This is your third crease. Third, open all folding and place the paper in the same position like the beginning. At the white side of the paper, fold one of the corners to the bottom of the triangle, but make sure it’s smaller than the first folding. You just need to fold it a little bit.
Fourth, while one of the corners is still being folded, you need to fold the paper following the line of the second folding. After that, fold the paper similar to the third folding. For the rest of paper in the bottom, fold it to the back. And as the finishing fold, you’ll find a small triangle at the edge of the paper. Fold it to the back.
Mouse
First, place a paper until one of its sharp corners is pointing at you. Fold it in a half vertically to create the first crease. Open it again. Second, fold the paper horizontally until you make a wide triangle. After that, fold one of the triangle’s sides but make sure it doesn’t in the same line with the first crease. Moreover, make sure that you don’t make a smaller triangle. It’s not the right shape.
Third, you need to fold the shorter corner to the back to make an ear. The bottom corner of this fold will be used as crease for the next folding. Fourth, in the bottom of the paper, you’ll see the remaining paper. You need to fold it based on the border that had been made before. As the result, the bottom part of the paper will not be sharp. And fifth, the shape of a mouse might not be visible for you. You need to draw a mouse face to the remaining corner (besides the ear).
