The problem of confidence is the common factor that makes people do not want to do speaking activities such as speech for the celebration, campaign, presentation, and others. This matter happens because some of the people do not have the ability to speak in public or it is called as Public Speaking ability.
Is it important to have the public speaking ability?
Absolutely Yes.
Why should the people have the public speaking ability?
There are many benefits we can reach from this ability. Being able in public speaking will help us to:
- Support and facilitate the delivering of an information, messages, materials, lessons, speech from communicators to communicants more effective and efficient. That’s why every speaker should really understand about the audience they have to face.
- Grow self-confidence in each of us to face of people. For example, in the work field, every day you will meet many people and face some clients. How if you do not have the confidence to speak with them to make a deal of a project? Of course, you will not be able to deal with them. This is why this ability is so important and we have to know how to be confident in public.
- By being able in public speaking, we have a huge opportunity to actualized all our performance in front of people. This is an opportunity for self-promotion. It is not because the people you know that will change your life, but the people who know you that will be the way to change your life.
For those who always speak in the public will have no doubt in expressing their opinion because they already built the public speaking ability. But, how about the people who are still confused to have self-confidence in public speaking? Do you know how to be confident in public?
Is there any way to build the confidence in ourselves?
For maintaining the self-confidence in public speaking, you need to do several things so that it will organize the way you speak.
- Persuading the people by setting and explore the interesting idea. There is an important thing you have to remember, you have to prepare the relevant material from the idea or theme that you have chosen. If you will speak by using the theme that has been decided by an organization, you need to arrange the interesting message or material which is appropriate with the theme.
- Finding the way to be confident depends on your ability in designing the messaging procedure. The person who will do public speaking must think about audiences. By understanding the background of audiences, you will know the best way to make the message you deliver understandably. Speaking in front of the student in university is certainly different with speaking in front of the employee of the company. Although the material is similar, the way of delivering the message including the use of different languages must be different.
- Organizing the route of delivering the message is also one of the ways to maintain your confidence in public speaking. By compiling a good route, the whole message will be well conveyed. Most of the public speaker trapped to speak out of context that has been arranging before because of not well-prepared the messaging route. The routes of messaging are very important to keep us on the theme and can be used as a measurement of the success in a communication process.
- Deciding the theme and material that is related to the theme must be balanced as the knowledge we know about the theme. Before you speak in public, you have to find more information to reinforce the message you will deliver. It can be as the source that you will tell the people so they can understand the theme has the connection to the real life. This is very important if in case the people will ask you some question and you have already prepared all the possibility by adding your knowledge about the theme you will deliver.
The way to be confident is not difficult as you think if you prepare it well by organizing all the situation and the route of speaking before you perform in front of the people. So, there will be no any reason to avoid speaking in public.
